Product Description

n-Butyl Acrylate is a clear, colorless liquid with characteristic pungent odor. Its boiling point is approximately 146 °C and melting point around -64 °C. It is slightly soluble in water and miscible with most organic solvents such as ethanol, ether and acetone. Featuring reactive carbon-carbon double bond, n-Butyl Acrylate is widely used to produce acrylic resins and emulsion polymers for waterborne coatings, pressure-sensitive adhesives, textile finishing agents, leather treatment agents and paper coatings. Industrial grade n-Butyl Acrylate is normally stabilized with MEHQ (4-Methoxyphenol) inhibitor to prevent self-polymerization during storage and transportation; the type and concentration of inhibitor shall be subject to the specific product specification.

Safety and Handling Notes

n-Butyl Acrylate is classified as hazardous chemical and dangerous goods. It is flammable. Its vapor irritates respiratory tract and eyes; skin contact may cause irritation or allergic reaction, and inhalation of high concentration may lead to respiratory injury. Operators must follow standard operating procedures and wear appropriate PPE including chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles or face shield, and half-face respirator. Keep workplace well ventilated and strictly away from open flames, sparks, smoking and other ignition sources. Store in tightly sealed containers in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat and direct sunlight, separated from strong oxidizers, peroxides, strong acids, strong alkalis and other incompatible substances. n-Butyl Acrylate may undergo self-polymerization under heat, light or contamination. Do not remove the inhibitor during storage or transportation and comply with storage requirements specified by supplier. Transport using dangerous-goods vehicles, tank trucks and approved hazardous packaging complying with applicable regulations.
